 Rhode Island CE Requirements:

Provider Number: 725
The State of Rhode Island Insurance Department has approved the courses advertised.

 CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS:

Rhode Island producers and claims adjusters must complete twenty-four (24) accumulated credit hours and a minimum of three (3) hours in ethics for each biennial license period.

ANNUITY Best Interest: Effective April 1, 2021, the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation Insurance Division (Department) has adopted the NAIC's annuity suitability best interest standards. Rhode Island producers who are already licensed and have completed suitability training prior to April 1, 2021, may complete either the new 4-hour Annuity Products - Best Interest Certification Training or the 1-hour update course before October 1, 2021. The availability of the 1-credit course expires on September 30, 2021. Individuals licensed after April 1, 2021 and who wish to sell annuity products must complete the new 4-hour best interest course before selling. Producers are required to maintain records of course completion, and insurers are required to monitor compliance. Compliance will be verified by the Department through market conduct exams and random licensee audits. Questions may be directed to DBR.InsLic@dbr.ri.gov or 401.462.9520.

LONG-TERM CARE TRAINING: Licensed producers who had not been selling LTC insurance on or before 7/3/2007 must undergo training on or before 1/1/2008 if they wish to sell LTC insurance policies after that date. Licensed producers who had been selling LTC insurance on or before 7/3/2007 must undergo training before 7/3/2008.

FLOOD TRAINING: All Rhode Island licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies must comply with the minimum training requirements.  An insurance producer who sells flood insurance may satisfy the minimum training & education requirements by completing a course related to the NFIP, which may be approved for three (3) hours of CE credit by RI Insurance Division.

ADJUSTER: In accordance with the regulation, this requirement applies to individuals who are: 1) RI resident company/independent adjuster licensees, 2) RI resident public adjuster licensees, and 3) non-resident RI designated home state (DHS) adjuster licensees who are required to meet RI resident requirements. We understand the complexity many of our licensees have faced with having to comply with other jurisdiction’s continuing education requirements and, in some instances, licensees are tracking continuing education across multiple jurisdictions. To remove this burden and in furtherance of our commitment to adjuster licensing uniformity and reciprocity, the Department is implementing continuing education for insurance claim adjusters who will be required to complete twenty-one (21) general adjusting credits and three (3) ethics credits.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION: Your certificate of completion will be available immediately from your account once we have received credit card payment.

SBS: Rhode Island has contracted with State Based Systems to handle CE reporting.  SBS charges $1 per credit for this service.  This fee will be assessed at checkout.

TESTING: An exam is required to receive continuing education credit hours. We do not guarantee you will pass the test. It is understood that you must read the course material to pass the test. You have five chances to pass the test. If you fail five times, the system will lock you out of that particular test & we cannot erase or delete them. You will need to make a different course selection. Tests are closed book.

Have a Happy Day!
