Except Producers licensed in limited lines, producers renewing an insurance license must successfully complete at least 24 credit hours of approved continuing education, inclusive of at least 3 credit hours in ethics, within the license period, prior to expiration of the license.

In addition, a producer seeking a license or renewing a license in the Property or Casualty group, shall complete at least 3 credit hours in flood insurance during the licensee’s first license renewal period.

Effective 6/24/2011 insurance producers who sell annuity products must complete an approved one-time four (4) credit hour training course by December 24, 2011. This four hour requirement is part of (not in addition to) your 24 hour requirement per two year licensing period. Newly licensed life agents on or after June 24, 2011, have to complete the training before they can sell annuities. No follow-up training is required.

CARRYOVER:  106.15 Excess credit hours accumulated during a license period shall NOT be carried forward to the next license period.

MONITOR:  106.18 A Program of independent study shall qualify for CE credit only if there is a supervised examination.  Each program of independent study shall be assigned credit hours, which shall be awarded upon the passing of the supervised examination.  The exam must be supervised by a disinterested third party person with no financial interest in the producer passing the examination.
