Effective November 2022:

STATE REPORTING: Effective 11/16/22 CE Providers will be required to notify NAIC's State Based Systems (SBS). We will do this daily Monday through Friday. SBS charges $1 per credit hour. This fee will be added at checkout.

Things you need to know: 

1. All current and future individuals and all current BEs are getting NPN as your license number. (This means that your license number will now be the same as your National Producer Number.)
    
2. All licensees should use https://nipr.com/licensing-center/change-contact-info to view and maintain important contact information.
    
3. Upon first renewal in SBS, the expiration date of most individual and business entity licenses/registrations will be automatically set to the last day of the birth month (individual) or the last day of the date certain (business entity).
    
4. All licensees requiring Continuing Education (CE) when renewing their Hawaii insurance license must be CE Compliant before submitting their renewal application. Use the “Print Education Transcript Button” on the SBS website to review your CE requirements and compliance status. (This means CE must be posted prior to being able to renew on www.nipr.com.)

LAH or PC agents:  21 hours in CE hours relating to the class of insurance + 3 hours of Ethics or Hawaii Insurance Laws & Rules.

LAH & PC agents:  10 hours in LAH class of insurance + 11 hours in PC class of insurance + 3 hours of Ethics or Hawaii Insurance Laws & Rules.

Excess Ethic hours will be applied for the same line of insurance.

MONITOR/PROCTOR: Hawaii requires a disinterested third-party person of your choice to watch you complete your closed-book test. Your monitor cannot be a person related to or is a business associate of or has a financial interest in the success or failure of the agent taking the examination. There is an online monitor form to be filled out prior to completing the exam.

ANNUITY BEST INTEREST: A producer who is authorized to sell annuity products on or before December 31, 2022, shall complete by July 1, 2023, a one-time training course on annuity products meeting the requirements of subsection (d) by completing a new four (4) credit training course approved by the commissioner after December 31, 2022 and provided by an approved education provider on appropriate sales practices, replacement, and discloser requirements under this part.

A producer who obtains a life or variable live & variable annuity products line of authority after December 31, 2022, shall not engage in the sale of annuities until the producer has complete training meeting the requirements of subsection (d).

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION: Once we receive the online credit card payment, you will be able to print your certificate of completion from our website. Once you receive the confirmation email, go back to our website, and click on View My Account. You can log into your account and print your online certificate.

CARRY-OVER: Hawaii does not allow the carryover of extra CE hours.  Pursuant to the Hawaii Revised Statutes §431:9A-155: "No credit hours earned during a single renewal cycle may be carried over and counted towards satisfaction of the credit hour requirements for a following renewal cycle for the same license."

TESTING: You only have five chances to pass the test daily. If you fail five times, the system will lock you out & you will have another five chances the following day to pass the test.

REPEAT: You cannot repeat a course within the same renewal period. Internet and correspondence courses are given the same course numbers.

We will not give out course numbers until the tests have been passed. For Internet completions, we will not give out the course numbers for 24 hours after the credit card has been charged.
