   Earthquake Coverage Decoded
provides insurance professionals with a focused exploration of earthquake
risk management, with an emphasis on protecting commercial property owners
and businesses. While residential considerations are addressed, the course
prioritizes the financial, operational, and continuity challenges that
earthquakes pose to companies, landlords, and commercial property managers.   Insurance professionals will examine how
seismic events disrupt not only buildings but also inventory, machinery,
supply chains, and revenue streams. The course explains how commercial
earthquake insurance is structured, including coverage for buildings,
business personal property, business interruption, and extra expenses. It
details how deductibles, exclusions, and concentration risk affect commercial
underwriting, and how insurers rely on reinsurance markets to support
catastrophic exposure.   Through case studies such as Northridge
(1994), Loma Prieta (1989), and Canadian examples in British Columbia and
Quebec, the course highlights the long-term economic consequences of
underinsurance. It stresses why proactive planning, adequate coverage, and
continuity strategies are essential for businesses facing earthquake
exposure.   By the end of this course, insurance
professionals will understand how to communicate the value of commercial
earthquake insurance, substantiate recommendations with data and precedent,
and support policyholders in making informed, risk-based decisions that
preserve both assets and operations.    |
